About Verto

Verto is the leading portfolio, programme and project management platform in UK public sector, deployed across 100+ organisations including ministerial departments, NHS trusts, local authorities and housing associations. We give programme offices real-time visibility, complete auditability and measurable cost efficiency.

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage a warm book of business. We are building a commercial engine and we need people who can open doors in some of the most complex and high-value buying environments in the UK.

Why now

Several structural forces are peaking in UK government at the same time, and none of them repeat in this form.

  • The Programme and Project Data Standard becomes mandatory, with Senior Responsible Owners personally accountable. Verto is the only PPM platform built natively to the standard.
  • Microsoft Project Online retires in September 2026. It is a hard deadline driving the largest migration wave in UK government PPM history.
  • The Spending Review requires every department to evidence efficiency savings with auditable delivery plans.
  • Every department must now evaluate compliant AI tooling, and Verto's AI capability is built for public sector environments.

The role

You will build and close a pipeline of net new logos across UK central government and NHS. That means working within framework procurement, navigating civil service buying culture, and creating demand that often did not exist before you opened the conversation. You will be fully supported by pre-sales, marketing and established partners.

Build and own your territory

  • Design and execute a territory plan across ministerial departments, executive agencies and arm's-length bodies, segmented by urgency and pipeline potential.
  • Maintain healthy pipeline coverage against your quarterly target, and manage your activity ratios, conversion rates and pipeline velocity proactively.
  • Track the public signals that indicate a department is ready to buy, and act on them quickly.

Generate pipeline, in person and at pace

  • Drive pipeline through genuine community presence: conferences, roundtables and government project delivery working groups. You need to be in the room.
  • Produce hyper-personalised outbound grounded in real account intelligence. Every touchpoint should show you understand the specific department and what they are facing.
  • Build warm referral networks through our existing client base, partners and your own relationships.
  • Use AI actively in your daily prospecting and research. We are an AI-first business and we expect our AEs to work that way: smarter research, sharper messaging, faster pipeline.

Sell with intelligence

  • Take a Challenger approach. Teach buyers things they don't yet know about their own delivery and compliance risk.
  • Use a recognised qualification framework, qualify hard, and disqualify early when the signals aren't there.
  • Multi-thread every account across the range of stakeholders involved in a public sector purchase, from portfolio and transformation leaders through to technical and commercial gatekeepers.

Navigate complex procurement and collaborate to win

  • Run framework procurement processes, further competitions and tender responses.
  • Build commercial proposals, business cases and ROI models tied to each client's specific obligations and delivery risk.
  • Forecast accurately. Your pipeline reflects reality, not aspiration.
  • Work closely with pre-sales, customer success, marketing and product, and feed market intelligence back to the team.

Who you are

This role is not for everyone. We are looking for a specific kind of person.

  • A genuine hunter. You find early-stage outreach energising, not draining. You build pipeline where others see nothing.
  • Intellectually curious about your market. You read the standards because you wanted to, not because you were asked to. You ask better questions than most because you have done better research.
  • Commercially driven. You know your quota, pipeline coverage and win rate at all times. You are not satisfied with close to target.
  • Obsessively organised. Your CRM is clean. Your follow-ups happen when you say they will.
  • Candid and direct. You tell a buyer when Verto isn't right for them. You say difficult things without being difficult. It is one of our company values.
  • Competitive, and a team player. You burn to be the top rep. You also share what works and elevate the people around you.
  • Creative in your outreach. You don't send generic sequences. The buyer feels seen, not targeted.
